POLICE are appealing for information following a distraction theft in Redditch.

A woman in her 90s was walking along Mount Pleasant at around 5.10pm on Monday, May 20, when a man approached her and offered to carry her bag.

He then reached into it, took a quantity of money from her purse and ran down the steps leading to Haresfield Close.

He is described as white, around 40 years old and 5ft 8in tall, of slim build with short dark hair.

He was wearing navy blue trousers and a dark navy top with red patches on it.

Police say the area was busy at the time and they are keen to any passersby, witnesses, or anyone who was driving and saw the incident.

They should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
