OH what a night!

Earlier this month Redditch Palace Theatre played host to the 5th ‘Redditch Has Talent’ final, and it proved to be one of the best yet.

With a full house and 17 acts performing for the judges, it turned out to be a night to remember.

Hosted by Dave Wilkins in his last RHT as producer and compère, every act gave impressive performances to a very appreciative audience.

The winners in each category were as follows:

9-12 years category – Chloe Richards, the ‘Dinky Dancer’, who emerged from a small box on stage and performed a stunning contortionist act, returning to the box at the end of her routine to wild applause.

13-16 years category – Aliesha Aulton, appearing in her fourth RHT final, gave a very polished solo singing performance.

In the ‘Groups’ category, last year’s runners up made it to the top of the podium. ‘Injured’, six young lads from Alvechurch Middle School wowed the judges with their performance of ‘Seven Years’.

The 17+ age category was won by Georgia Taylor, who had flown in from a holiday in Jamaica only hours before, but still managed to give a stunning rendition of ‘My House’ from Matilda, the Musical.

The last act on stage for the judges was in the Dance category. It was a show stopping performance of ‘Bye Bye Blackbird’ from the musical ‘Fosse’, with lead vocals by Abigail Bunn, stunning outfits and near faultless choreography from 15 members of the Stratford upon Avon School dance troupe.

The final category, the Judges Overall Choice of best act on the night, went to a very talented young lady, again from Stratford upon Avon School, Lily-Mae Dalleau-White whose visual appearance and outstanding vocals took the £100 cash prize.

The evening also included performances by the Ipsley Performance Troupe and Palace Youth Theatre while the judges added up their scores, which meant more than 120 young people performed on the stage on the evening.

Next year RHT will be produced by Maria Brannelly and will be on Thursday, July 2, 2020.
