Andrew Grant hits back at claims it’s closure was for political reasons

MEMBERS of Redditch Labour Party were left red-faced this week after Andrew Grant estate agents hit back at claims its closure was due to political reasons.

On Facebook the party released a statement which said: “The town centre has seen the loss of three businesses recently.

“Andrew Grant, Jessops and of course Thomas Cook.

“This is sad news for all of the staff involved.

“It’s worth noting that when Marks and Spencer closed in Redditch the Conservative Party – then in opposition – very unfairly blamed the Labour council for that decision.

“The truth is that it’s particularly tough out there for retail businesses and meaningless sound bites like #unlockRedditch are not doing anything to alleviate the situation.

“We do not need to unlock Redditch, we need to release the whole UK from the shackles of a government which is failing our economy and our communities.”

A spokesperson for Andrew Grant replied by saying the closure of its Redditch branch was nothing to do with politics but instead doing what’s best for its customers.

“Did you know that over 95 per cent of people begin their property search online?

“Our premises may have changed but our people are the same.”

Andrew Grant Redditch is still operating but instead from a ‘single hub’ rather than a physical office.

Staff who previously worked in the Church Green branch can still be contacted via the same email addresses or by calling 01527 66161.
