STAFF at Alvechurch C of E Middle School have been described as ‘caring’ and ‘inclusive’ in a glowing Ofsted report.
The report from the education watchdog states that pupils with special education needs and disabilities are treated extremely well, with staff also considering the mental health and emotional wellbeing of all pupils.
The inspection, which returned a ‘Good’ rating, took place at the end of January. Inspectors noted that bullying is ‘very rare’ and pupils feel safe and enjoy their education.
They described the school’s curriculum as ‘broad, stimulating and extending well beyond the classroom’, with pupils being given many opportunities to develop their sporting and musical talents.
Teachers are said to know their subjects well and have high expectations for staff and pupils alike.
They know what works and where learning can be strengthened further by planning lessons in advance.
Leaders are said to make effective use of the Bromsgrove Middle School Partnership to extend their own thinking and to provide training for staff.
Headteacher David Snell said: “We are very proud of the extremely positive report that we have received from Ofsted in light of our recent inspection.
“It is a testament to the hard work and effort that goes on to ensure that our pupils have a provision that provides for them both academically and pastorally. I would like to thank everyone involved.”
