THE countdown has started to the final Redditch bandstand community festival event of the year.
Wilson’s funfair has already arrived in the town centre and excitement is building towards the big event this Saturday, September 16.
Heading the all-singing all-dancing event will be samba band Oya Batacuda plus there will be a complete support programme of performers and dancers to keep the entertainment rolling from 12noon to 4pm.
Not only that but lots local organisations will also be on hand including community and special interest groups plus there will be food from around the globe to enjoy.
A key feature will be the children’s fancy dress parade with a £500 holiday voucher, donated by Tommy Wilson, for the best costume to be won.
Brilliant local artist Steve Pound will also be at the bandstand with a special festival art workshop.
He’ll be letting people’s imaginations run wild painting their vision of Redditch’s water tower.
Steve’s fascinating interpretations of the landmark have won him widespread acclaim and this is an opportunity for young and old to put their ideas down on paper in glorious technicolour.
Also there will be members of Redditch Local History Society discussing their latest research while members of Headless Cross Orchard will be bringing their juicer along to press freshly picked apples grown right here in Redditch for people to taste.
It all promises to be a fun-filled day for all.
