MORE than 120 registered nurses, midwives and current and aspiring healthcare support workers attended a hospital recruitment event last Saturday (January 23) at the Alexandra Hospital described as the ‘busiest yet’.

The free event showcased the opportunities available at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust’s three sites – the Alexandra, Kidderminster and Worcestershire Royal Hospitals.

As well as stands giving information and advice on opportunities within medicine, surgery, women’s and children’s services, theatres, outpatients and clinical support roles, there were HR advisors available giving help and support on applying for vacancies and healthcare apprenticeships.

More than 70 people were interested in healthcare assistant roles, taking the time to speak about apprenticeships as well as full time job opportunities.

The HR team were also kept busy helping people to register online and apply for jobs on the day of the event. In all 17 people were actually interviewed on the day for full time jobs.

Lisa Miruszenko, deputy Chief Nurse at the Trust, said: “This was our third recruitment event and it was the busiest one yet, with over 120 potential members of staff arriving at the Alex to meet our nursing, theatres and midwifery teams.

“We have a lot to offer potential applicants, and the open day was a great opportunity for people to see that for themselves. I’d like to say thank you to all of the staff who put time and effort into organising the successful event, as well as everyone who dropped in on the day – it was fantastic to meet you all.”

The trust is running quarterly recruitment events and the next one will be held on Saturday, April 16.
