A ton of fun at Studley

A BALLOON release and a giant coin creation helped pupils mark an historic occasion in their school’s history.

Staff and pupils at Studley Community Infants’ School held a day of activities last Friday (May 2) in recognition of the school’s 100th anniversary on April 27.

Children created a giant 100 out of pennies in the morning before enjoying other activities including a performance by the Studley Skippers and a magic show.

A total of 100 balloons were also released and have travelled across the country with the furthest reaching Hampshire.

Pupils have also been working with the Warwickshire Reminiscence Action Project to produce a timeline of the school’s history and to uncover the stories behind former students.

A walnut tree has been planted in honour of the centenary and the school has been raising money to help restore Studley War Memorial.

Children will also be working with Studley History Society to investigate the links between the school and those on the memorial who died in The Great War, as 2014 also marks 100 years since the conflict began.
