AN incredible £50,000 was raised at Race for Life’s Arrow Valley Park event last Sunday.

It’s one of Race for Life’s highest ever totals in Redditch according to Cancer Research UK’s Katie Bevan, who organised the 5km event.

She said: “It takes my breath away that so many kind-hearted people managed to raise that kind of money.

“The day was a great success despite it raining heavily the night before.

“The sun came out for us all and was shining across the stunning park.

“More than 1,000 people crossed the finishing line, making it one of our most popular events yet.”

Members of Redditch Ladies Circle were there for their seventh year running.

They managed the administration tent, marshalled, ran the charity shop and took official photos.

Katie added: “Race for Life is about people coming together and having fun.

“It doesn’t matter how fit you are or how fast you want to do each course, it’s not a race.”

Those who collected sponsorship money prior to the event on Sunday are asked to look in their pack for information on the best ways to donate it.

One option is to hand it in at the nearest Cancer Research UK shop.

If you’re already itching to go again, you can sign up for next year’s Arrow Valley Park event by heading to raceforlife.org or calling 0300 123 0770.
