A-Level success for students

THERE were tears of joy and relief for hundreds of pupils across the borough and beyond as they found out their A Level results.

Students in Redditch, Alcester and Wythall discovered what grades they achieved yesterday (Thursday) with many schools bucking the national trend with high pass rates.

RSA Academy Arrow Vale had there best ever results with 100 per cent of students achieving three A* to E grades, while pupils scored the highest ever points per entry.

Star performers included Jas Rai who scooped an A* in business, an A in history and a C in English literature and will study law at University of Birmingham.




Jordan Workman bagged an A in applied business, A in media studies, and a C in English literature and will be going to University of Worcester.

Principal Guy Shears said: “I’m incredibly proud of the students who have worked hard to gain their best ever A Level results. This has been an amazing year for students and staff at RSA Academy Arrow Vale.”


At St Augustine’s Catholic High School all pupils got three or more A Levels while everyone passed general studies and 75 per cent achieved four or more A-Levels.

The school’s average point score per student was also up on last year.

It means more pupils have secured a place at their chosen universities including top performer Charlotte Mason, who will study dietetics, after gaining an A* in biology and chemistry as well as As in geography and general studies.

Lucy Burbridge scooped an A* in geography and A grades in literature, general studies and history, and will study English literature and history at university.

Tudor Grange Academy Redditch recorded its best results with a 99 per cent pass rate and an increase in the percentage of students achieving A* to B grades.

Pupils who scored three or more A* to B grades included Yves Armond, Michael Chaharbaghi, Daniel Churm, Alex Evans and David Hill.

Headteacher Stephen Brownlow said: “I am extremely proud of the students and staff at Tudor Grange Academy Redditch who have worked so hard to achieve our best ever results at AS and A Level.”

Trinity High School also saw an improvement on its score per entry and the average point score for students which increased to 790.

Some of their top performing students included Raees Akhtar who gained two A*s and a B, and Atah Shah who picked up three A*s and a B.

Both will be going on to study maths at the University of Birmingham.

Retiring headteacher Marian Barton congratulated all students and staff on their hard work and achievements and wished them the very best for the future.

Woodrush High School also celebrated its best ever results with a 100 per cent pass rate and over half of all grades being in the top A* to B mark.
