THEATRE-goers can get a taste of Arabia and experience a whole new world next weekend, all from the comfort of the Palace Theatre.

Audiences are invited to join the Palace Youth Theatre (PYT) as they perform their summer school production and firm family favourite, Disney’s Aladdin.

Made famous with its recent run at London’s West End and based on the iconic animated 1992 film, Aladdin transports the audience to the streets of Agrabah, a city of enchantment, and home to Aladdin the ‘Street Rat’, where every beggar has a story and every camel has a tail!

When hero Aladdin meets Jasmine, a beautiful and plucky princess, he is determined to win her heart.

With the one rub of a forgotten, dusty old lamp he discovers the genie and uses magic to become a prince to marry his princess.

Obstacles, however, wait at every turn and it will take all his wit, cunning and courage to triumph over the evil schemes of Jafar and win Jasmine’s hand.

Packed with great characters, this musical adventure is filled with magic, mayhem and the power of love.

Lizzi Tabberer from PYT and arts officer for the borough council, said: “We’re extremely excited to be able to put on the Disney version of this show and we have an amazing, talented cast who have been working really hard.

“Whether you want to relive some childhood nostalgia or you’re seeing Aladdin for the first time, this show is guaranteed to capture a magical place in your heart.”

Aladdin is on stage at the Palace on Saturday, August 12, with two performances, one at 2.30pm and the other at 7.30pm.

Suitable for all ages tickets cost £12 and family tickets £35 all available from the box office in person, by calling 01527 65203 or online at www.redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk/.
