THE ‘Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival’ will take place in Digbeth this Saturday and Sunday (September 14/15).

Co-curated by the show’s creator Steven Knight, the two-day festival is the first ever official celebration of the global TV phenomenon.

On Saturday visitors will be treated to performances from Primal Scream, Anna Calvi, Liam Frost, The Pearl, Harts, Hotel Lux, Nadine Shah and many more across five stages.

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Slaves, Saint Agnes, Marthagunn, Mike Skinner (DJ Set) and JayKae will be performing on Sunday.

Show creator Steven Knight said: “It will be a festival of live music, performance, poetry, immersive theatre and experiences which will celebrate the swagger of the men and women who walked these same Digbeth streets 100-years ago.

“Along with the music line up, we have the world-famous Ballet Ramber performing a specially written and choreographed Peaky Blinders ballet.

“There will be fashion shows, street food, pop-ups and bars including a re-imagined Garrison Tavern.

“Expect 1919 to come crashing into 2019 and, be assured, everything is officially by order of the Peaky Blinders.”

Steven will at the festival to answer questions from fans about the show and to debate the history, politics and social themes of series five.

Actors Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby), Harry Kirton (Finn Shelby), Packy Lee (Johnny Dogs) and Kate Phillips (Linda Shelby) have also been confirmed to attend.

And main man Cillian Murphy will be bringing Tommy Shelby to life via broadcast for guests to enjoy.

Meanwhile the creative director of David Beckham’s British menswear label, Kent & Curwen, will showcase his official Peaky Blinders collaboration while Steven Knight’s Garrison Tailors clothing range will be on the catwalk.

John Empson, festival director, said: “The legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival is a brand new concept which starts in Birmingham, the authentic birthplace of the Peaky Blinders.

“Something totally fresh in the festival market, the show will merge cinema, live music, immersive theatre, ballet, bespoke food and drink, spoken word, pop-up performances, collaborations, exclusive previews, appearances from cast members and world class special guests.”
