THE Palace Theatre’s drum clinic returns on January 19 with a session featuring well known session and touring drummer Robert Brian.
The workshop, hosted by Matt Green from the UK National Drum Fair, aims to give local people the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business in The Studio, at the Palace.
Robert Brian is a busy session/touring drummer from the UK who has worked with the likes of Goldfrapp, Peter Gabriel, Simple Minds, Modern English, Siouxsie Sioux and Andy Shepperd – to name a few.
In 2017 Rob was up for a Grammy with the Italian artist Laura Pausini for an album he worked on called ‘Simili’, the album went triple platinum and the single hit number 1 in Italy and Spain.
Also in 2017 he recorded tracks with the UK band Goldfrapp for their album called ‘Silver Eye’ which hit number 6 in the UK chart.
He also has 3 albums ready for release in 2018 with Canadian folk artist Lorenna McKinnett, the French pianist & singer Clara Ponty and another record with Italian singing sensation Laura Pausini.
Matt Green is one of the UK’s most versatile percussionists. He has emerged himself in all aspects of percussion and plays all range of music, from Baroque to Rock.
Matt often performs as a guest soloist with different groups, premier big bands and Jazz ensembles in and around the Midlands/London and in the studio recording for rock/pop artists.
His passion for world music has led him to work with such artists as Ravi Shankar, collaborating between Eastern and Western musicians, UK’s leading nasheed group SHAAM and on the west coast of Ireland’s folk scene. Matt’s very popular workshops/clinics are both educational and inspiring.
