ALVECHURCH have appointed Jamie McWilliams and Simon Redhead as joint managers after Shaun Cunnington left the club following their cup win on Saturday.
The promotion from players to managers will be the two club stalwarts' first taste of action from the sidelines and chairman Peter Eacock is fully behind them.
Eacock told The Standard: "They have been with the club for three or four years and are both sensible businessmen with the right sort of attitude to take the club forward.
"I can honestly say hand on heart it is the right decision. They have both got a lot of man management skills and are trying to attract a lot of players.
"They have come in and know what to do for next season. I am 100 per cent behind them. There were a lot of other people in the frame but I felt this was the right appointment."
The duo have also brought former player Brett Clark back to the club to handle the coaching responsibilities.
After a good start to the season The Lye Meadow outfit fell away toward the tail end of their campaign and eventually finished 14th, just a point behind rivals Studley.
But McWilliams admits with four or five new faces, the club could mount a serious promotion push next season.
"I do not think we are that far off we just need to make a few additions to the squad," McWilliams told The Standard.
"I think the size of the squad more than anything and the amount of games we had caught up with us.
"Hopefully we can keep everyone happy. It is our first job and we are just looking forward to it. We are both very enthusiastic."
And McWilliams admits there will be no problems between him and Redhead over who has the final say when it comes to picking the team.
"We are both quite level headed guys and will both just discuss it between us."
