    CRICKET

    STUDLEY got off to a terrible start in Birmingham League Division Three on Saturday after losing to Lichfield by 69 runs to pick up four points.
    Lichfield posted 197-7 but Studley only managed 125 all out in response and welcome Coleshill tomorrow who beat Oswestry.
    Astwood Bank are still without a win in Worcestershire League Division One despite just falling short against Bromyard and picking up five points.
    Bank hit 151 all out but Bromyard surpassed with 152-7 to win by three wickets and winless Droitwich are the visitors tomorrow.
    Redditch picked up their first success of the new season after cantering to a nine-wicket win at Netherton for 20 points with their bowlers on top form.
    Nev Mason collected 4-51 and Steve Merry managed 4-20 as Netherton posted 130-9 but Redditch smashed 130-1 and host second placed Oldswinford tomorrow.
    Alvechurch's bad start continued in Division Two with their second defeat after going down by six wickets to Bewdley for five points.
    Church produced a spirited 212-9 with James Spavin smashing 78 and James Clifford hitting 57 but Bewdley reached 213-4 and Alvechurch go to Avoncroft this week.
    Winless Feckenham did not do enough at Lye as their opponents triumphed by a solitary wicket.
    Lye reached 160-9 but Feckenham only managed 157 all out in response for six points with a trip to sixth team Romsley and Hunnington awaiting them tomorrow.
    Hewell were brought down to earth on Saturday after winning Division Six last year after losing to Vine by 14 runs in Division Five to pick up four points.
    Vine totalled 117 all out but Hewell could only post 103 all out in their season opener and host Knighton on Teme tomorrow who had their game abandoned.
    Exhall and Wixford's pursuit of the Cotswold Hills Premier Division title began well on Saturday as they brushed aside Henley-in-Arden by seven wickets for 20 points.
    Henley could only manage 129 all out while Exhall cantered to 134-3 and face a tough trip to Stratford Bards this week who also won as did champions Bretforton.
    Alcester's attempt to win promotion back to the top flight took at the first time of asking suffered a heavy blow after losing to Catherine-de-Barnes by 29 runs in Division One.
    Catherine smashed 188-9 and Alcester only managed 159 all out for seven points and welcome Bidford-on-Avon this week who also lost.
    Cookhill made a disappointing start to their Cotswold Hills League Division Three campaign after suffering a five wicket defeat to local rivals Exhall and Wixford II.
    Having loss the toss, Cookhill made 120-7 before Exhall reached their target with an over to spare with Neil Shuttleworth the pick of the bowlers with 4-23.
    Entaco suffered a frustrating weekend as both home fixtures were called off on Saturday and Sunday because of the poor weather.
