While founders Cherie Blair and Dr Gail Lese have enjoyed a large amount of public attention over the launch of their private equity fund Allele, the members of the advisory board have so far been left out of the limelight.
The board brings together highly experienced specialists both from the medical world as well as finance and business experts. Combined, the advisory board helps Allele choose and support healthcare companies in order to bring significant return of investment to the fund investors.
The advisory board currently consists of five members: Dr Ehud Mendel, M.D., F.A.C.S. is the Justine Skestos Professor of Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopaedics and Systems Integrated Engineering at The Ohio State University Medical Centre. Both Dr David Diamond and
Dr Sheri Siegel come from a veterinary medicine background, with Dr Siegel as the co-founder of the New England Veterinary Oncology Group. Dr Diamond is a well-known leading veterinary orthopaedic surgeon and a staff veterinarian at the Veterinary Centres of America South Shore Animal Hospital.
Representing the business side of Allele, board member Joel Ring is the President and founder of Salt Lake Asset Management LLC, which manages a diversified commercial and residential real estate portfolio. The latest addition to the Allele advisory board is David Weinstein. Formerly a senior business executive at Fidelity Investments, the corporate lawyer is a Fellow at the Advanced Leadership Institute at Harvard University. Weinstein was appointed to the board in August 2012.
Allele is an investment fund concentrating on health sector investments. The fund was launched in 2011.
