  • Steele returns to Hippodrome as Dolittle

    Andrew Powell

    01 May 2008

THE LEGENDARY Tommy Steele, one of Britain’s best-loved and most enduring of musical stars, returns to the Birmingham Hippodrome next week in the title role of the smash hit show Doctor Dolittle.
Having appeared in Hollywood hits that include Finian’s Rainbow and the acclaimed Half a Sixpence, and following Palladium sell-out shows including Singin’ in the Rain, and most recently Scrooge, Steele returns alongside a huge company of singers, dancers and puppeteers in this all new production of Leslie Bricusse’s family hit musical.
Doctor Dolittle has gained much critical acclaim and played to sell-out audiences all over the country. Now, specially re-moulded and heralding the musical return of Tommy Steele, audiences in Birmingham can enjoy the phenomenal musical world of Doctor Dolittle with an Oscar-winning score that includes hits such as If I Could Talk To The Animals and I’ve Never Seen Anything Like It, as well as lavish sets and special effects.
Performances of this Bill Kenwright show run from Tuesday, May 6 to Saturday, May 17, while tickets priced £13.50-£30, along with further information, are available online at www.birminghamhippodrome.com or from the box office on 0870 730 1234.
