VISITORS turned out en-masse to mark the 25th anniversary of the end of one of the world’s most renowned bus suppliers.

The special event at Wythall Transport Museum on Sunday and Monday (August 24 and 25) commemorated the closure of major Birmingham employer Metro-Cammell (MCW), which exported top quality buses and trains worldwide.

Bus enthusiasts had a wheely good time, viewing the large collection of more than 90 buses, electric milk floats, bread vans and other vehicles.

They also got the chance to enjoy interpretative displays, take a trip or two on the venue’s miniature steam railway and ride the classic busses through beautiful villages including Henley-in-Arden, Earlswood, Alvechurch and Beoley.

Former MCW bus designer John Seale also demonstrated his traditional draughtsmanship skills by completing an unfinished picture of a Birmingham City Transport 1931 Morris.

• Visit www.wythall.org.uk for more events at the museum.
