ARTISTS will be working in pubs and businesses across Alcester as part of the town’s first ever arts festival next Saturday and Sunday (August 30 and 31).
And children will also be playing their part by entering a summer holiday artwork competition with the chance to win vouchers for art supplies.
The Mosaic festival will bring some of the area’s top painters together for the two-day event and they will be rubbing shoulders with living statues and a caricaturist.
Sam Rath, chairman of Alcester’s Chamber of Trade and Commerce, said there would be plenty going on during the event.
“We are very much a festival town and with the help of Warwickshire County Council’s Operation Footfall backing, we can now celebrate the work of some of the amazing artists we have in this area.
“We will have people painting in pubs and cafes in the town centre with others working at various locations in High Street, Butter Street and Church Street.
“Beauty salons and hair salons are also looking to do something a little different as part of the festival and our living statues and caricaturist will put a smile on people’s faces.
“We are hoping that as many businesses as possible enter into the Mosaic spirit to ensure we have another festival to remember.”
Entry forms for the children’s artwork competition are available from shops and pubs in the town and all the entries will be on display at Alcester’s Globe House and the library in Priory Road.
The closing date is Tuesday (August 26) and there are three different age groups - each with £50 of prizes up for grabs.
