A LITTLE girl has turned a fall in to a fund-raising effort in memory of her grandad.
Isla Robinson broke her wrist while playing on the monkey bars during a holiday in Exeter.
The brave seven-year-old had to have her arm in a cast and with the help of her sister Maeve decided to charge people to sign it.
The Roman Way First School pupil asked family and friends for a small donation in return for their signature with all the money raised going to the Primrose Hospice.
The pair chose the charity in memory of their grandad John Robinson, who passed away from cancer at the end of June this year.
More than £80 has been raised so far and more donations are still set to come in before they hand over the money in September.
Mum Julie Robinson said she was extremely proud of both her daughters for coming up with the idea.
“It is just a lovely thought to know your children came up with something as nice as this.
“They always use their pocket money to put into charity tins when we around the shops and I’m just so proud of them.
“I just want to thank everyone for their support and anyone who has donated.”
Helen Garfield, the Primrose Hospice’s chief executive officer, said: “We are really sorry to hear that Isla has broken her wrist but delighted that she and her sister Maeve can turn something negative into something really positive in memory of their grandad.
“It is very touching that so many people, especially children, are supporting our BIG Appeal and I would like to say a huge thank you to Isla and Maeve for raising money for us.
“We all wish Isla a speedy recovery and hope she is soon playing on the monkey bars again.”
