MORE than £220 has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support by a group of nurses and Alexandra Hospital staff.

Much of the money came from a fund-raising meal at Unicorn Hill based restaurant Rasoi attended by about 25 people.

A cake raffle and donations from other kind-hearted supporters then boosted the coffers.

Organiser Shazia Bashir, who lost her mother to cancer two years ago, said: “The restaurant kindly offered to give us huge discount and overall it was a lovely night for such a good cause.”

Further fund-raising events are planned for November and in the spring.
