THE FIRST woman in 67 years has been elected to lead Redditch Rotary Club.
June Barley was appointed at a ceremony at the Abbey Golf Club on Monday (July 7) after former president Noel Pritchard finished his presidential year.
It is hoped the move will encourage more women to become Rotarians which meets every Monday for lunch at the golf club from 12.45pm.
The club raises money for many groups, charities and organisations across the town and this year’s main charity will be St Basils which aims to prevent youth homelessness.
The club’s annual fête will be held in Dormston on Sunday (July 20).
Anyone interested in joining the group should contact June Barley on 0785 4964 714.
