REDDITCH'S Tour Series event was watched by more people than any other national round.

With a peak audience of 379,000 watching the evening highlights of the cycle event on ITV4 the day after it took place on June 3, the Redditch round officially received the highest number of viewers for the whole series.

The amount of people who came to the event in the town centre is still unknown, but organisers Sweetspot believe it was also one of the best attended rounds.

Ed Dursley, Worcestershire County Council's Tour Series project manager, said: "This is very promising and we thank people of Redditch and the wider region for supporting this event.

"Our marketing clearly worked with the television figures and attendance figures and we look forward to receiving our final economic impact assessment."

Members of Choose how you move, who originally bid for the cycle event to come to the borough, are currently looking into continuing the race for next year and are appealing for sponsorship from businesses.
