A MAN breached a criminal anti-social behaviour order just eight days after it was granted.

Samuel Crawley, of Berkswell Close in Church Hill, was spotted in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre after he had been banned from it five years.

The 27-year-old admitted breaching the order at Redditch Magistrates' Court last Wednesday (June 25). He was ordered to undergo drug rehabilitation treatment for six months and to pay £85 costs. If he fails to comply with the order he will be brought back before the court.

The CRASBO was granted by Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on January 9 due to his persistent shoplifting, drug taking and anti-social behaviour.

The order runs for five years and bans Crawley from the Abbey or Trafford Retail Parks, as well as the Kingfisher Shopping Centre. He can use the bus station as long as he does not enter or leave by the centre.

It also bans him from injecting, inhaling, smoking or consuming any illegal drugs in any public place.

But on January 17 he was spotted in the centre under the influence of drugs, resulting in the court action.

PC Richard Field, from Abbey Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "Crawley has been given a strong message by the court and another breach of CRASBO is most likely going to result in a custodial sentence.

"The Safer Neighbourhood Team will robustly enforce any breach of this CRASBO in an attempt to protect the public from the distress that he causes."

Speaking after the sentencing Mr Crawley told the Standard while he admitted the breach since January he had complied fully with the order. Following the breach he had voluntarily entered drug rehabilitation treatment and had given negative drug tests on a weekly basis. He was also working two days a week on a farm.

Mr Crawley also pointed out the judge in the case had praised him for the progress he was making saying it was the best he had seen him do in ten years.
