THE FURTHER development of Brockhill is set to be outlined to the public next week.
Developers Persimmon are preparing to unveil plans for the next phase of the expansion of land off Brockhill East which will include more homes, employment land and open space.
The number of new homes included in the plan have not been revealed ahead of a public consultation event at Redditch Town Hall on Monday (June 30) between 3pm and 7pm.
But the borough council's Local Plan No.4 currently being prepared sets out the land is suitable for 1,025 homes as well as 8.45 hectares of employment land, a district centre and a first school. Some 171 of those homes have already been built as part of the Pointer's Way development.
Following the consultation it is expected a planning application will be submitted in July.
The news comes as it was revealed the vast majority of the existing Brockhill estate has been adopted after a battle stretching back 14 years.
Appletree Lane, Marchwood Close and roads off as well as Low Fields Lane and Cofton Close have now been taken into ownership by Worcestershire County Council meaning the authority is now responsible for issues such as road maintenance and street lighting instead of the developers.
Carthorse Lane and the roads off as well as Lilly Green Lane, Shirelands and Wootton Close were adopted last autumn.
Wheelers Lane and the roads off are expected to follow in the next month leaving just Wheatcroft Close and Rosedale Close to be adopted, which should be finalised by the end of the summer.
Coun Robin Lunn said together with fellow Redditch North councillor Graham Vickery they had worked tirelessly to ensure the estate was adopted.
"The recent remedial works carried out by Persimmon were done at their cost not the taxpayer, and I thank them and the hardworking county highways officers for bringing this to a close," he said.
"My regret is the people of these roads have had to wait 14 years for this to become a reality, and hope that agreements put in place with the developers will mean the houses currently being built in Brockhill East will be adopted a lot quicker.
"Now the council taxpayers of the vast majority of Brockhill can know that their roads are adopted like everywhere else and the long wait is finally over."
