Skippers swap rope for fund-raising

STUDLEY skippers swapped the rope for running to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

A total of 56 members of Jump Rope UK hopped on the treadmill for a 24-hour sponsored challenge.

Aged between five and 27, each fund-raiser ran for 10 minute intervals on two treadmills, with many bringing sleeping bags to rest during their interval.

A total of £1,250 was raised for the hospital’s £4million Children’s Cancer Centre Appeal which will fund new facilities and accommodation including age-appropriate play zones, better communal areas for families and an improved outpatient area.

Club coach Rachael Dale chose the charity after spending time at the hospital when she was a child.

The 24-year-old, who has been skipping since the age of eight, said: “The event was about bringing people together to fund-raise for

Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s Cancer Centre Appeal.

“A huge thank you to Arrow Valley Health Club in Redditch who allowed us to use their gym, and provided us with space to sleep and keep our supplies.”

Visit www.bch.org.uk for more information about the appeal and how to donate.
