A WOMAN is being questioned by police in connection with three sneak-in burglaries in the Winyates area.
All of the incidents happened on Thursday (June 5) with two of them taking place in Petton Close between 5pm and 5.30pm, with the offender gaining access in both instances through insecure doors.
On one occasion the intruder was confronted inside the house and left and in other other a man grabbed back his wife’s handbag from a woman after spotting her leaving the property, but was unable to stop her escaping.
Prior to that about 4.15pm in Cardington Close a woman ran off when she was disturbed by a householder after sneaking in and stealing a rucksack and an Xbox controller.
Police conducted a search in the area and later arrested a woman in Winyates on suspicion of burglary. She is currently being held at Kidderminster Police Station where she is helping officers with their inquiries.
Det Insp John Cashion of North Worcestershire CID said: "Sneak-ins account for a large proportion of burglaries and in each of these incidents entry was gained through insecure doors while the householders were home.
"This should serve as a reminder to people to lock doors and windows and not leave valuable property lying around on view for an opportunist thief to grab and go."
Anyone with any information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
