A 'STREET-LEVEL' drug dealer caught with crack and heroin after a chase in Redditch has been jailed for almost three years.
Phidel Gonzales, of Winyates Centre, admitted possession of crack with intent to supply, possession of heroin with intent to supply, driving without due care and attention, driving without insurance and without a licence, when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday (May 6).
In total the 26-year-old was sent to prison for two years and nine months. He was given concurrent jail sentences for the drugs offences, no separate penalty for careless driving and received a total of nine penalty points for the insurance and driving licence offences. He was also disqualified from driving for six months and that will take effect on his release from prison.
On November 23 last year officers went to stop Gonzales who was driving on the ring road in Redditch. As they came up behind him he rolled out of the car and ran off while the vehicle carried on and crashed into a fence outside a house.
Officers caught Gonzales after a short foot chase and found the drugs when he was later searched at a police station. He had on him the equivalent of 70 deals of crack and
70 of heroin, with a combined street value of £2,100.
Det Sgt Martin Grant, of North Worcestershire CID, said following sentencing: "Gonzales is a street level dealer in Redditch and preventing the supplying Class A drugs remains a priority for West Mercia Police. This result shows that when such activities do come to our attention we will relentlessly follow up on intelligence and bring people before the courts.
"The fact that Gonzales has been deprived of his liberty also illustrates that the law takes a dim view of those who peddle misery in our neighbourhoods and will come down on them hard."
