A TRIO of young runners will be pounding the town's parks to raise money for the National Deaf Children's Society.

Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletics Club members Alice Battey, 12, Ellen Bowen, 13, and Ellie Moss, 13, will be running the equivalent of a marathon over five days.

The girls, who all attend Walkwood Academy, started the 26.2 miles on Tuesday (April 22) and will complete five different runs around Arrow Valley Lake, Morton Stanley Park and the Abbey Stadium, eventually finishing on Saturday morning (April 26).

The youngsters chose to raise funds for the National Deaf Children's Society after being inspired by their teacher's daughter Evie West who suffers from hearing loss. Alice also had problems with her hearing when she was younger.

Close to £300 has been raised so far. Visit www.justgiving.com/Ellen-Bowen-Alice-Battey-Ellie-Moss for more information and to donate.
