A MAN has been arrested in connection with duping elderly people in Studley into handing over their bank details.

The 20-year-old was arrested in Leicester last Saturday (April 12) after four cases of courier fraud were reported in Warwickshire the same day.

Between 4pm and 6.45pm elderly people in Studley, Aston Cantlow, Earlswood and Barford told police they had received phone calls from a man claiming to be a police officer.

He told them their bank details had been compromised and a courier would collect their bank cards from them while they should report the issue to their bank.

A total of three people recognised it was a scam and refused to give their details.

But one did not realise until money had been taken from an account.

The man who was arrested was taken into custody for questioning and later released on police bail awaiting further enquiries.

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity in the New Road area of Studley, Aston Cantlow village, the

Church Lane area of Barford or the Malthouse Lane area of Earlswood.

Anyone with any information should call Warwickshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
