SCOUTS and guides from across Redditch descended on the town centre to celebrate St George’s Day.

A special service to mark the occasion was held at a packed St Stephen’s Church on Sunday (April 13) where about 300 young people also renewed their promise.

Prior to that beaver scouts from Astwood Bank paid a visit to the church as part of their Promise Challenge badge.

They were met by Rev Paul Lawlor who explained the history of the church and features including the organ, font, pulpit, vestry and bell tower.
