A PAIR of mothers will donate more than 400 easter eggs to the Alexandra and Birmingham Children's Hospital as a thank you for the care their children received.

Jude Prosser came up with the idea to collect 100 eggs for the Birmingham Children's Hospital after watching her daughter battle against cancer in 1992 .

After putting the idea on Facebook, fellow mother Becky Brandon, who's daughter suffers from Type 1 diabetes and has been cared for at the Alex, then shared the status with her friends on the social networking site and others began to do the same.

With the help of mutual Facebook friends, colleagues and family members, more than 400 eggs have now been collected, with the Morrall family from Walkwood gathering 130 chocolate treats.

Mrs Prosser said: "We both asked on Facebook and it just went manic, everyone was so keen to donate and every donation meant the world to us, whether it was one egg or ten.

"We would like to thank every single person and also supermarkets Tesco and Asda for donating all of the eggs.

"We've really enjoyed it and will hopefully be making it an annual thing."

The eggs will be delivered to the two sites as well as the Worcestershire Royal's children's ward in time for Easter.

About 100 will go to the Worcestershire Royal, 80 to the Alex and the rest will be taken to the Children's Hospital.
