GREEN-FINGERED volunteers spruced up a Studley school garden as part of its centenary celebrations.

A team of 15 staff from Barclays head Office in Coventry spent two days revamping the gardens and forest school area for pupils at Studley Community Infants School in time for its 100 year birthday in May.

Led by Steve Parry, parent governor and dad to Year 2 pupil Benjamin, the team dug, weeded, planted and tidied, while replacing reed screening and fence posts damaged in the winter winds and rain.

They also painted sheds and walls and built a new mud pit for the nursery children to enjoy.

A large selection of plants were also donated by B&Q Redditch for a new mini sensory garden, while Barclays funded all the materials.

Mr Parry said: “Barclays’ staff try to get involved in community projects as often as they can, and it’s been great for our team to make a difference at a school I have such close links with.

“The class gardens and forest school area are brighter, tidier and ready for the centenary celebrations. I’m sure the children will benefit from their improved surroundings for many years to come.”
