Man attacked in town centre

A MAN was taken to hospital after he was punched in the face in Redditch town centre.

The 18-year-old victim was standing near Lloyds TSB on Church Green East about 12.45pm on Tuesday (April 8) when he was approached by a man.

The attacker punched him in the face and knocked him to floor causing injuries to his mouth.

An ambulance was called and he was taken to the Alexandra Hospital.

PC Nick Gianfaga, said: "This was a nasty assault and appears to have been unprovoked.

"We are still trying to put together a description of the offender but bearing in mind this happened in the town centre in broad daylight it may well have been witnessed by other people."
