YOUNG performers helped drum up interest in this year’s Race for Life by performing a dance in the town centre.

Members of the Starlight School of Dance took part in the Cancer Slam in the Kingfisher Centre to help promote the event which takes place at Arrow Valley Lake on Sunday, June 15.

The Cancer Research UK team handed out 2,500 leaflets to shoppers and saw an increase in numbers of those signing up to the event in the days following the dance.

Sarah Southall, the charity’s Midlands marketing manager, said: “The dance really drew the crowd in to come and look. People were really interested to find out what we were doing and it was great to have a prominent position in such a well-known part of the centre to communicate we are coming to Redditch and want people to sign up.”
