THE FORMER Youth House is set to be turned into a tanning salon and women's gym.
But the new owner has warned if the public do not use the site it could be knocked down for development.
Gary Waring, who also owns Waring's Tyres in Webheath and the tanning centre on Unicorn Hill, said he hoped the Ipsley Street site - which was shut by Worcestershire County Council in December 2012 and sold earlier this year - would be open by the end of April.
As well as offering tanning and the gym, the original sports hall will remain as it is to enable residents to rent it out.
Refurbishment work is already taking place, with extra tarmac being laid outside to create more parking spaces and new flooring being put down at the front of the building.
Mr Waring told the Standard: "I want to give it a go and see if we can make any money to see whether it does become a success.
"But I will be putting planning on it if it doesn't make any money so it is up to everybody whether they want to hire the sports hall.
"If it generates enough income to get the repairs done and it makes money it can stay. If after two years we are losing money then it will be knocked down. It is up to everybody what they want to do."
