A NURSE with an addiction to peri peri was given the honour of opening Redditch's new Nando's restaurant.
Dawn Price, who works at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, was chosen to cut the ribbon on Wednesday (April 2) after winning a Facebook competition to find a superfan.
Her love affair with the Portuguese restaurant began ten years ago when she tried their food at a restaurant in Five Ways, Birmingham and now wherever Dawn goes shopping she always ensures there is a Nando's and has already tried restaurants in Manchester, Liverpool, London, Kent and Dudley.
The Quinton resident was alerted to the competition by her boss, who lives in Redditch, while on a night shift.
"This looks fantastic. My oldest friend lives in Redditch and we'll definitely be coming to Redditch more often."
Nando's is the first restaurant to open as part of the new £2million The Hub leisure development in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre and has created 35 jobs.
Karen French, regional managing director of Nando’s, said: "We’re delighted to be opening the doors to our new restaurant in Redditch - a town that’s been on our radar for some time."
