THE SEARCH is on for one lucky resident to officially welcome Nando's to Redditch.

The chicken chain will open its doors in The Hub area of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on Wednesday April 2 - two days earlier than planned.

Bosses have signed a 15-year lease to take on the 4,000 sq ft space for the 120 seat restaurant, originally used by TJ Hughes.

And the company is looking for a Nando's superfan to perform the ribbon cutting duties at the restaurant's official opening. They will also win a meal for themselves and three friends.

To enter simply visit the Nando's Redditch Facebook page and explain why you are a Nando's superfan.

Entries should be made by midnight on Sunday (March 30) and those taking part should be available to cut the ribbon at 11am on Wednesday (April 2).

The opening is set to be followed next month by the arrival of oriental buffet Real China with a further two restaurants in the pipeline with one expected to open in June while the fourth is still in talks.

The move is part of an £8million project to transform the centre.

The Hub, which neighbours Pure Gym and Vue cinema, will be open from 11.30am until 11.30pm to boost the town's evening economy and create up to 100 new jobs.
