PUPILS at a Redditch school are amongst the first in the country to learn how to design and programme their own video game.

A ComputerXplorers workshop was held at St George’s First School yesterday (Thursday) to mark Programming for Primaries awareness week, which is focused on support and resources available in advance of the new curriculum for computing being introduced this September.

ICT co-ordinator Jeanna Weller said: “We’re delighted to lead the way in programming and coding and to be amongst the first schools to take part in the inaugural Programming for Primaries week.

“We are already well prepared for the introduction of the new computing curriculum and welcome the opportunity to give the children a taste of things to come from recognised specialists in this field.”
