A PAIR of thieves stole about £300 worth of clothing after targeting a menswear store in Redditch Town Centre.

The duo first entered Heaphys on Church Green West about 12.10pm on Wednesday (March 26) where they enquired about shoes and a shirt which they claimed had been reserved.

They left and returned about half an hour later where one of the men again asked about a shirt which had been put to one side but oddly gave several names.

While the owner of the shop was upstairs dealing with his request and some other customers, the second man distracted another shop worker by trying on clothes.

It was only when she heard a drawer being opened and turned around to check that the pair ran off out of the shop and down Church Road.

One of the men was wearing a Joules jacket worth about £260 while it is believed other items of clothing were also taken as well as a Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile phone worth £300 had also been stolen.

Both of the thieves were white and spoke with Cockney accents.

One was about 5ft 7ins tall, had short brown hair, was wearing a high visibility jacket, a dark blue sweatshirt, jeans and had a latex glove on one hand.

The other man was about 6ft tall, wore glasses, had short grey/blond hair, a cream roll neck sweater with the zip done up and was holding a plastic carrier bag.

Anyone with any information should contact police on 101.
