BIRTHDAY wishes have been sent to Redditch from the Prime Minister.

David Cameron was responding to a question from Redditch MP Karen Lumley - who also turns 50 this week - about the new town anniversary celebrations during Prime Minister’s Questions.

He said: “May I first of all very publicly wish her a very happy 50th birthday and at the same time wish everyone in Redditch a very happy 50th birthday and thank them for the kind present she gave me of the Monopoly set with Redditch as its basis which was a very kind gift.”

Redditch Town Centre Partnership is planning a week of events to mark the anniversary of new town designation in 1964.
