Police name Redditch murder victim

OFFICERS who are investigating a stabbing in Redditch yesterday (Saturday) have named the victim as Kirsty Wright.

The 21-year-old was taken to the Alexandra Hospital with serious stab wounds after the incident in Evesham Road and she died this morning (Sunday).

A 29-year-old man, who was arrested at the scene, is still in custody and West Mercia Police have announced they are not looking for any other suspects at this time.

Following the incident, Supt Kevin Purcell, North Worcestershire Police Commander, said: "I would like to reassure the community that these incidents are rare and that Redditch is a safe place to live, work and visit.

"We will work with the community to bring the offender to justice and support the family, who my thoughts are with at this difficult time."
