A MAN broke his ankle in several places after an alleged assault in Redditch.

He claimed to police he was assaulted after being ejected from the Royal Enfield pub on Unicorn Hill at 12.15am on March 9.

The 34-year-old was treated at the town's Alexandra Hospital and, although he was discharged, he may need further surgery.

Det Con Sarah Richardson of West Mercia Police said it was important officers established how his injuries happened and whether he was assaulted.

She added the smoking area at the Royal Enfield, which is outside the front of the pub, was busy at the time and she believed someone would have seen what happened.

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call DC Richardson on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Alternatively, information can be conveyed on the www.crimestoppers-uk.org Crimestoppers website.
