A TOP dog from Redditch has been crowned an obedience champion at Crufts.
Ginty won the accolade after competing in the Obedience Championship at the NEC in Birmingham last Friday (March 7).
The working sheepdog and trainer Philomena Barnes competed against 21 other pooches and their handlers with tricks such as stays, sendaways, recall and heelwork.
Phil, who has competed in obedience competitions for 40 years and is one of the UK’s most successful handlers, said: “I’m absolutely overwhelmed. I can’t believe it has happened to me.”
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club secretary, said: “Top obedience competitors from all over the world come to showcase their abilities at the world’s biggest and best dog show. Congratulations to Ginty and Phil on their fantastic success.”
