REDDITCH now boasts the best small convenience store in the country.
Webheath based Biddles Simply Fresh was given the title by the Convenience Retail Awards, organised by trade magazines Convenience Store and The Grocer.
The store impressed judges with its dedication to the community and its impressive range of locally sourced fruit and veg, bread and fresh meat.
The Birchfield Road shop's in-store kitchen also helped it stand out from the competition offering home-made pies and ready meals.
Biddles began life three decades ago as a greengrocers but was converted into Simply Fresh two years ago.
Owner Simon Biddle, whose dad started the business, said: "I am so thrilled all of our efforts have been recognised and rewarded. Our home-made foods and our fresh and chilled ranges are very strong points, but we also have a great team and I’m very proud of them."
Convenience Store editor David Rees added: "Simon Biddle has worked extremely hard to rise to the challenge of local competition, and offer shoppers something compelling and different."
