Screwdriver robber steals £25,000 car

A ROBBER armed with a screwdriver ordered a Webheath man to hand over the keys to a brand new £25,000 car.

The owner of the new Audi A3 S line TDI was in his house on Fenwick Close when he heard a bang at the front door about 9pm last Friday (February 21).

A man with a scarf across his face and who was armed with a screwdriver confronted him and told him to hand over his car keys.

The robber and a second man left the property in the white car - registration number DL63 ONC- which had only been bought a few days earlier.

The duo failed to take a Renault which was blocked on the drive but had the keys to it.

The man who had the screwdriver was white, stocky and wore a dark hooded top.

Det Con Claire Johnson of North Worcestershire CID said it appeared the robbers broke into the house with the specific intention of stealing the cars.

"Although no-one was injured this was a very unpleasant incident and we are urging people to get in touch if they saw these men arriving there on foot, noticed which way the car went afterwards or have any idea who might be involved.

"In particular we would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this white Audi A3 since 9pm on Friday or knows where it is now.”

Anyone with any information should contact officers on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the reference 733-S-210214 or

Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
