Armed robber steals jewellery from town shop

AN ARMED robber stole more than £2,000 worth of jewellery from a town centre shop.

The man, who is described as Asian or mixed race, went into Cash Converters on Unicorn Hill about 1pm on Saturday (March 1).

He was armed with an implement concealed under an item of clothing and smashed a display counter before stealing the Asian gold jewellery.

The man, who was wearing a black hooded top and black jogging bottoms, left the store in the direction of Bates Hill towards Hewell Road.

Police have released this CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the robbery.

Det Con Amjad Iqbal, of West Mercia Police, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the offender near the store on Saturday afternoon or from anyone with information relating to the robbery.

"Thankfully no one was injured in this incident, but we do need to find this person as soon as possible.

As such we are releasing footage of a man caught on CCTV at the time of the incident, if anyone knows who he is, please contact us straight away."
