SHOPPERS are being warned to be on their guard against distraction thieves following a theft at an Alcester supermarket.

The incident happened in Waitrose car park about 6pm last Wednesday (February 19).

The thief watched someone enter their pin in the supermarket, followed them outside and approached them to say something was wrong with their car.

The victim then opened their bonnet at which point an accomplice stole bank cards from the car before the pair fled.

SI David Malin, of Alcester's Safer Neighbourhood Team, warned people to cover up at cash machines when entering their pin.
