A LARGE quantity of drugs was found and two people arrested during a drugs raid in Winyates.

Police found the drugs, believed to be heroin and crack cocaine, at a property in Fownhope Close on Wednesday (February 26) as well as a large quantity of cash.

A man and woman, both in their 40s, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and released on police bail until May 30 pending further inquiries.

Det Sgt Laura Wright said: "We are very pleased that as a result of this operation, a large quantity of Class A drugs have been taken off the streets.

"Drugs, and in particular drug dealing, are a concern for residents from many of our communities, and we are committed to doing all we can to tackle these issues.

"Drugs cause tremendous harm in terms of increased crime and anti social behaviour, as well as blighting the lives of users, and their family and friends.

"Disrupting the activities of drug dealers is a high priority for us and by working together we will make our communities safer places."

Anyone with any information about drugs should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
