Court appearance on arson charge

A LODGE Park man has appeared in court following an blaze in the borough.

David Hyett from Aldington Close appeared before Kidderminster magistrates on Thursday (February 27) charged with arson with intent to endanger life or being reckless as to whether life would be endangered.

The 29-year-old was remanded in custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court on June 2.

The fire happened at a terrace house in Dilwyn Close, Matchborough, on Saturday evening (February 22).

Neighbours were alerted by a large bang and started to tackle the blaze themselves before the fire service arrived. A window was burned out but the flames did not spread and inside there was mainly smoke damage.
