A COUPLE accused of causing the death of their child will face trial in June this year.

Tyler Vallance and Jessica Jamie Rosamay Wiggins were set to appear before Worcester Crown Court last Friday (February 14) where they were expected to enter a plea.

However, the court heard Vallance was being held in custody in Leicester and could not attend, with the defence asking for the plea and case management to be moved to March 17.

Wiggins did not enter a plea despite being in attendance.

Vallance, aged 20, is charged with the murder of his two-month-old daughter Isabella Vallance in 2012. He is further charged with the ill-treatment or neglect of a child between October 5 and December 7 2012.

Wiggins, aged 18 and who was given a Bromsgrove address in court but is believed to be living in Redditch, is charged with causing or allowing the death of a child, contrary to section 5(1) and (7) of the Domestic Violence Crime and Victims Act 2004.

The pair were arrested on December 9 last year after their daughter received injuries at a Redditch home.

She was admitted to the Alexandra Hospital on December 7 and was then transfered to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital on December 12 where she later died.

Wiggins was released on bailed following the condition she does not have any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16, without informing Children’s Services, unless it is unavoidable to do so in every day life.

The pair will face trail on June 16 this year.
